A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MRS. DALE KELLY LOVE, PRESIDENT GENERAL OF THE NATIONAL SOCIETY DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION FOR HER MERITORIOUS SERVICE TO COMMUNITY AND COUNTRY.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Dale Kelly Love was elected to serve as President General of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution for 1998-2001; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Dale Kelly Love is a native Mississippian who is leading the largest patriotic organization of women in the world with over 178,000 members in over 3,000 chapters in every state of the Union and six countries; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Dale Kelly Love is a talented and devoted member of the DAR who has served the national society on every level; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Dale Kelly Love joined the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in 1955 and has over 43 years of continuous membership in four chapters; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Dale Kelly Love has served the Mississippi State Society as State Regent, State Historian and as Chairman of the DAR Good Citizens, Membership, National Defense, Transportation and Finance Committees; and
WHEREAS, her extensive research efforts revealed the unique historical significance of the Old French Fort Rosalie and Tobacco Warehouse and helped lead to the designation of Rosalie as a Registered National Historic Landmark; and
WHEREAS, under her visionary leadership the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a leader in renewing the nation's sense of volunteerism and community service; and
WHEREAS, as President General, Mrs. Love has heightened public awareness of the DAR'S objectives of historic preservation, promotion of education and patriotic endeavor based on the DAR's motto: "God, Home and Country"; and
WHEREAS, she is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and taught instrumental and vocal music in the public schools and on the university level for 30 years; and
WHEREAS, in Mississippi, she served as Director of the Southern Fine Arts Festival, as a member of the Governors' Council on Education and the State Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution Commission; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Love's late husband, Dale Kelly Love, was Director of the Marching Band at the University of Southern Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to commend the meritorious accomplishments of the citizens of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Mrs. Dale Kelly Love for her meritorious service to her community and country and wish her success as leader of the world's largest patriotic organization for women.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Dale Kelly Love.
